Regal Hotels grows award-winning airport offering with new property serving Xi’an, China

  • New property is the only hotel connected to Xi’an Xianyang Airport via a covered walkway

  • The group’s 14th opening joins the multi award-winning Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong

Hong-Kong based Regal Hotels is delighted to announce the opening of its second airport hotel, the Regal Airport Hotel Xi’an in China.

The new opening, which has just started accepting bookings, is the group’s 14th and it is the only hotel connected to Xi’an Xianyang International Airport via a covered, elevated ‘link bridge’ that leads to Terminal 3. It comprises 297 guest rooms ranging from Superior and Deluxe categories (both 40 sqm) to 25 indulgent suites, including a Presidential Suite (428 sqm).

Other strong selling points include its elegant Oriental-inspired interior design, luxury OM spa, state of the art fitness centre and indoor swimming pool. Its comprehensive MICE offering includes three ballrooms, including a stunning 720 sqm Grand Ballroom capable of holding 1,200 people, and 20 meeting rooms backed by a range of Executive Club Lounges.

Exclusive services for hotel guests include fast track boarding and VIP ‘meet and greets’ at the airport while a shuttle bus service transports guests to Xi’an city centre, 20 miles away. Food and beverage options range from Noodle Doodle to fine Chinese dining at Rouge.

As the capital of 13 ancient dynasties and starting point of the fabled Silk Road, Xi’an is one of China’s most important cultural and historic areas and is also home to the famous Terracotta Warriors. Xi’an Xianyang International Airport meanwhile is the most important transportation hub in Northwest China.

Belinda Yeung, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Regal Hotels International, said:  “These are exciting times for Regal as we look to expand our portfolio from this, our 14th opening, to a multi-brand portfolio of 24 properties by 2016, and I am delighted to be able to welcome guests to our second airport hotel.

“Xi’an is not only the most important transportation hub in Northwest China it is a major tourism centre, making the hotel a great fit for both leisure and business travelers. And judging by the incredible feedback we have already received since the property enjoyed its soft opening at the end of last year we fully expect it to follow in the footsteps of our multi-award winning Regal Airport Hotel in Hong Kong.”

Sister property the Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong is connected directly to the passenger terminal of Hong Kong International Airport via a covered walkway. Features include 1,171 guestrooms and suites; six restaurants and bars; OM Spa; 24-hour gym; indoor heated and outdoor swimming pools; and 30 function rooms, including a Grand Hotel Ballroom that can hold 1,500 people.

Recent accolades for the Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong include winning the World’s Best Airport Hotel and Best Airport Hotel Asia categories in the Skytrax Awards for four consecutive years (2011-2014) and winning Business Traveller UK Magazine’s Best Airport Hotel in the World award for six straight years (2008-2013).

Like the Xi’an property the Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong offers visitors a VIP ‘Meet & Greet’ service at the airport and the chance to benefit from the generous Regal Awards programme while its Business Centre offers everything from temporary office space and meeting rooms to secretarial services.
